Rapeseed is with sunflower and olive tree one on of the main sources of food vegetable oil in Europe. This Rapeseed oil is produced in the Farm of Grand'Maison at Lumigny in the southeast of Paris. Rapeseed is harvested in July. 3000 liters a year of edible oil are produced in this farm (for a surface of 3 hectares) using 1st cold-pressuring. There is 33 % of oil in a seed of rape. The manufacturing uses an endless screw which pushes the rapeseed on an metal slab. The latter blocks the passing and compresses the colza. The mechanical pressure extracts the oil of the rapeseed.
